January 2023 | The Case for Christ: What’s the Evidence for the Resurrection?

A reporter for the Chicago Tribune named Lee Strobel was a Yale Law School graduate. He wrote a book entitled “The Case for Christ,” which is about his personal investigation into the evidence for Jesus. Before becoming a reporter, Strobel was an atheist. However, his wife changed their religion to evangelical Christianity and convinced him to disprove key Christian beliefs about Jesus.

January 2023 | The Case for Christ: What’s the Evidence for the Resurrection?

Christian apologists consider the New Testament to be accurate and sensible, so their books are often bestsellers. One such book, written by Lee Strobel, was No Other Name. In it, he investigated claims that Jesus rose from the dead, that he was the literal Son of God and that the Gospels were accurate accounts written by a group of trained writers. However, Strobel could not definitively disprove these claims, and he eventually converted to Christianity after a failed attempt at refuting them.

A movie based on the case for Christ is to be released this Friday. It attempts to present a compelling argument for Jesus' resurrection as fact, instead of fiction. One person in the film says that the Christian faith is a house of cards if Jesus didn't rise from the dead.

I don’t believe the film adaptation of Andrew Strobel’s book accurately portrayed the depiction of Jesus’ resurrection. As a religious studies professor specializing in the New Testament and early Christianity, I hold that most historical inaccuracies were present.

Does Strobel’s every piece of evidence matter?
